Dismissals in accordance to social media policies do not amount to unfair dismissals
Employees are not only liable for their conduct during working hours; they are equally responsible for their usage of social media during personal time. Employers reserve the right to take action against employees for inappropriate use of social media. However, such action has to be taken in accordance to the social media policy of the organisation. Employers have to ensure that there is indeed a concrete social media policy in place along with the provision of appropriate training in support of such policies.
